Throttle Linkage

Today, I had a "dead throttle" condition. Found throttle linkage to the quadrant was unseated. Question: is there supposed to be a spring clip (or some such thing) that holds the linkage socket(s) onto the ball pivots?

Dennis,
I think you are talking about the linkage rod between the throttle lever and throttle control plate.
It sounds like the ball ends have worn out. Letting the ball fall out of the socket. You should be able to find new replacement ends at an automotive parts store.

Those are little rascals to get out of there too. The one that hooks onto the throttle rod disc is threaded in and isn't normally hard to turn but takes small hands and nimble fingers. Preferrably no bifocals, too! LOL

Thanks, Mike. That is exactly what happened. When I put them back onto their respective pivot ball, they did not fit tightly or snap into place. So I am sure you"re right - they"re worn out.
I"ll try NAPA for replacements.

It's in the Ferguson Parts Manual but Idon't have a scanner or a fax to send it to you. Holler for John(UK). I think he has that capability.

There is a ball socket link that attaches to the governor linkage rocker with a nut and connects to the governor lever arm rod.
