Thanks Jerry/MT and Dan for your reply. My 30 has the spacer, I just could not figure out why it was there. Back to the original discussion topic, subtle differences in the 120-129 design makes the conversion challenging, not inpossible

The only thing that would concern me is the rear axle difference. There must be a real good reason why Ferguson changed this between models because it is not a cheap part(s). Maybe someone with more knowledge on this subject could shed some light on it.

Jerry/MT I replaced the front axle pin and bushing on my TO-30. What is the spacer you mentioned on the right side of the axle mount used for?

There is a spacer between the block and the front axle support assembley. The part number is 181 299 M1. it is only used on the TO-30/Z129

On the TO20, the generator mounting bracket mounts between the block and the fromt axle support. The TO30 changed the way the generator was mounted so a spacer was needed to take up the space that was designed into the system for the old TO20 generator bracket.

I know this is not answering your question but I have a TO20 engine on a TO30 body. I came to that conclusion after asking several questions on this forum. So, maybe you can assume that the reverse combination is possible.

I think you can put the Z129 into a TO-20 but there are some detail differences in the chasis on the TO-30. The differential/rear axle is not the same, probably due to the increased torque of the Z129. There's a spacer on the right hand side between the engine and the front axle mount on the TO-30 that's not there on the TO-20. I think the hydraiulic pump and/or the control valve are slightly different but interchnageable.
