The other day I was working on re-installing my hood and I knew that the service panel did not close right. While still off the tractor I took the service panel door out and found all 3 cross members broke so I quickly decided this was the problem, cleaned them up and welded them. I put the service door back in and it still did not close and the front latch did not work (before pix)  After much studying, I placed a strait edge across the opening and found that the front latch support was much lower in the opening than the rear latch (picture of rear). I also decided that the panel must have never worked right and must have been replaced?  I ended up cutting the front latch and a small piece from a donor hood I have which raised the latch further up into the hood opening and adjusted it to be the same as the rear   The next problem I had was the svc door was about 1/16" longer than the opening. I ended up cutting a smallslit in the hood opening front and roled the edge down enough to get the hood svc door to fit. Next the svc worked way too hard and bound. I lubed the bootom side where the retainers ride. They appear to be hardeded pins with the ends machined like cotter keys.
  The front of my svc panel still does not set down in quite like I think it should on the hinge side but think like someone else mentioned a small tube placed over the retainer pin would force it down a little more. Its much better now and works considerably easier. Note all welding was done with the hood OFF, not over the gas tank!
