I have had that problem while plowing snow. Both my cylinder on the front for the blade and the 3 point hitch will not go down unless the clutch is in, or the power takeoff is off or the motor is off. It was working fine and then this happened. Any ideas???

It sounds like your control valve is stuck. This is a common peoblem on these tractors.

You can verify by removing the right side inspection cover. You should feel spring resistance when you operate the valve manually and the valve lever should return to rest against the control lever under spring pressure.

Sometimes, the valve will not return unless the engine is running and the pump is engaged because the oscillator will not be functioning unless the pump is turning.

The only way to effectively do this is to change the oil. I do not believe that this is your problem though unless you lave lots of water in the sump.

I'm going to take a wild guess, with little info, and say maybe you have moisture in your hydraulics that is freezing and causing the pump not to work properly.
