TO20 Oil Change Problem

I"m having a problem getting the filter access cover off the oil pan. The bolt on the cover is turning but it won"t come out so I can get the cover off. I can"t remember how long the bolt is that holds the cover on and if it screws into a longer bolt that goes through the filter/screen. Any drawings or suggestions is appreciated.

THE BOLT IS ABOUT 1" LONG IT SCREWS INTO THE STAND PIPE THAT GOES THROUGH THE FILTER. IT MUST BE TURNING THE WHOLE PIPE THAT MY BE HARD TO GET LOOSE IF THAT IS THE PROBLEM.I WOULD HATE TO SEE YOU HAVE TAKE OFF THE PAN JUST TO CHANGE THE OIL AND THE STUD MAY HOLD THE PAN ON. SORRY COULD NOT BE MORE HELP GOOD LUCK. AL

You are correct, the whole pip is turning. I'm glad the bolt is short. Will have to see how I can keep the pipe from turning.

I wonder if you can grind the sides of the bolt head off to get the cover plate off and then get in there with visegrips to hold the pipe.

If so maybe you could use a Dremel to cut a screwdriver slot in what's left of the bolt or maybe weld a nut to it to unscrew it.
