Lee...i thought that suggestion was pretty good, but the question still remains...did you get the thermostat in the hose?

glad to hear you got it all together...no matter what kind of lube you decided on. i'll have to keep all this in mind about replacing the hose and thermostat as i've never done it on my tractors. things i learn in this forum are great to know...thanks for letting us know how you did it.

Yes, got it together. Used a light coating of vegetable shortening. It still required effort to slide the hose all the way to the base of the radiator neck. Other posts in the past mentioned how hard it was to fit these pieces together using off the shelf 1 1/2" diameter automotive replacement hose that is sold by the foot. What I did was poke around at the local auto supply house until I found a preformed hose with @6" of straight section, cut that part off and used that rather than the heavy duty hose they tried to sell me. I forget who mentioned that the 8N thermostat would work but that answer was spot on.
