Hi Everybody, can you run a TED on just petrol or do you need to run it on kero and after starting on petrol, or could you replace the head with a TEA head or get the TED head shaved down to raise the compression ratio. Any help will help

You can replace the head with a TEA Head, you can't get the TED head skimmed enough to raise the compression as the combustion chambers are very deep on a TED. You can run a TED on petrol on very light work only as it can overheat and burn valves (a lot do it though) you can mix your own TVO and probably it is safer to run on TVO than petrol only, just remember to get it hot enough before you turn over to TVO and turn it back to petrol about 3 mins before you are going to switch the engine off and that will burn all the TVO in the system. Don't leave the engine idling on TVO, keep the oil changed every 60 hours for a good heavy engine oil. Change the filter every 120 hours. Make sure that the Temperature gauge and the Thermostat are working properly and that the Ignition Timing and the Carburettor settings are correct. If you need this information, email me at:-
