I recently bought a TO 20 Ferguson,my (winter project,) it is in need of lots of tlc, any way my concern at the present is this, I acquired a pair of lower lift arms that have 3/4 in sockets and I need to change the ball sockets to 7/8" how do I take out the old sockets ,go easy on me now,I,m still learning..

Are you sure you measured correctly? Cat 1 lift that you have on all Fergusons all have 7/8" balls, now a Cat 0 that is for garden tractors have the smaller pins and also would be shorter, if that is what you bought take them back and get the correct ones. If you try to weld a new ball on instead of a broken one the chances that it will work correct are very slim as if you get the length even 1/16" off it will cause the lift and whatever you have on it to pull sideways, the more off in length the more sideways it will pull. Also the top link uses 3/4" ball and pins so do not confuse them.

Thanks so much for the inf to all of you ,didn,t realize about the proper length and the consequences involved by using to long or to short , so guess I should look for weld on ends, appreciate all.

It isn't just a matter of sticking some old lower links on the tractor, they do need to be the correct length or it will either have the implements too near the tractor that they catch on the wheels or they are too long and it wont lift as much as it should do.

You can buy new replacement weld-on sockets. So cut off the old weld on the new.
