Now that you all have comfirmed my block is toast (see post below), I need to find a good machine shop experienced in Z129 engines. I live in the Portland OR area and would greatly appreciate any recommendations for a good shop anywhere in the Northwest, including Idaho, Montana and Northern California. It's worth it to me to take it to someone very familiar with these motors. Anybody have a favorite, or are they all about the same? Thanks!

I bought a T030 that has the same problem. The engine is disassembled & the block is cracked between the sleeves. Does anybody know of a placeclose to the panhandle of Florida that can repairthis concern? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Warren

This is a not uncommon problem. Talk to your local automotive machine shop and ask them about a furnace braze repair.

Talk to Farmland Tractor in Tangent, Orgeon. They furnace braze blocks to repair them. I have a remanufactured Z129 I bought from them that I installed in 2001 that's runs like a top. I neede to get the tractor running so I bought a short block that they remanufactured for $1485(exchnage) including all the gaskets. I redid the head separately. They can fix the block and sell you a kit for you to redo the rest of the motor and Randy and Company are a great bunch of people to deal with.

Jerry,

Thanks for the excellent lead! Tangent is an easy drive from here, so I"ll give them a call. Taking a chance on salvage is what got me into this predicament, so now what matters most to me is someone who is experienced with these engines. Thanks again--this is great!

Bill

Glad to hear it! I"d appreciate any thoughts or advice coming from your experiences as you reassemble your engine.

You should probably call around your area for machine shops that work on AG equipment. Shipping a block to a repair shop will cost $$$ (heavy).

It might be cheaper to find a junker tractor and buy it for the block. Just a thought.
