Radiator petcock TO-20

I open petcock(sp)and it just wets my fingers.Want to drain so I can put in lower hose heater.
Could I try cleaning with a wire ? Don't want to wreck it, don't know how it is constructed.
Anyone know how to get it runing ?

I use a small burst of air . MAKE sure the cap has been removed first. le

Ron, Remember those things are left hand thread(at least most of mine are). Are you screwed all the way in to the radiator?I have used a piece of baling wire and opened them up every so gently. Would say that you have a bunch of crud-rust and such in the botton of the radiator.

I have also used copper wire to try and open the hole.

Hi----Took the whole thingy out. Seemed to go the stardard way. full of stuff that was as hard as dryed clay.
Got heater in. If weather is ok will try to get it by water and flusch out .
