Only the Standard Diesel was used in the TO-35. When the TO-35 became the MF 35 in 1960, the Perkins Diesel was utilized and the Standard was dropped. The tractor SN of the last Standard Diesel TO-35 was 203679. The SN of the first Perkins Diesel MF-35 was 204181.

That's good information, Paul. I wondered about this as I have a MF-35 with a Perkins diesel engine. I had heard that both engines were offered in the MF-35 for awhile and have heard of more than one advertised MF-35s with the Standard diesel engine but did not know if they were really MF-35s or TO-35s.

Might you know when MF added the screen to the hydraulic pump? My MF-35 does not have a screen but I also have a FE-35 (the one with the ugly sheet metal and grill) with Perkins diesel engine that does. Though most things are identical between these two tractors I have discovered many subtle differences.

The MF parts book says the hydraulic pump with the screen was used on the gas MF 35 from SN 230456 and up and on the Perkins MF 35 from SN 231715 and up.

The TO-35 has long been recognized as one of the best tractors of its type ever built. A friend of mine was a Ferguson dealer in one town and a Ford dealer in another town in the 1950s. He told me the TO-35 was vastly superior to Fords of that era.

Hi C D I maybe wrong but I believe that they were both used in them. The Perkins was a 3 cylinder and the Standard was a 4 cylinder.
