TE-20 or not?

I have what I believe to be a TE 20. the serial number next to the steering wheel dates it as a 1948. it has the english distributor cap and rotor like a te 20 has and has the internal oil filter up in the oil pan. But instead of having on the engine the numbers Z120, it has Z129, both stamped on the block and in raised numbers close to the stamped numbers. If anyone has any thoughts as to what this might be, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

If you have a 1948 TE-20, On the serial number plate by the steering wheel, It should be somewhere between TE-20895 and TE-77773. Make sure it has the TE in front of the number. It should also say made in Coventry, England I believe. I just rebuilt the bottom half of an engine on a TE-20 and the parts are available here in the states. Just a somewhat harder to find. Good Luck
PS: I alo had to have the Block repaired because of a crack at the bottom of the cylinder. It came out ok and is fine now.

Sounds like you have a COMBI FERGUSON. Z129 is the TO 30 engine block. If you are certain that the SN is TE and 1948 then it would appear that back in history someone had need of a new engine. As long as everything works OK and you know to mix and match parts from the different models, then enjoy the Fergie. Mike
