I split my 49 TO 20 at the clutch and removed the main shaft bearing retainer to replace the seal which was shot. My question- can I just pull the shaft forward and out to use it to realign my clutch disc as I want to replace the rear main seal while I have it split? Also is it possible to replace the reverse shifter rail seal that goes to the starter switch without removing the trans cover and various other parts? I'll be thankful for any advice and thanks for those who have helped in the past.

Main shaft seal #DMR S13720031B (1.375 x 2.0 x .328); Reverse Rail Shifter Seal# S07512537CS (.75 x 1.25 x .375) These are available at any bearing supply house. Yes, you can replace the shifter seal from within the bell housing. I suspect it will be a b---h to get out though. You"ll have to basically mutilate it to pull it out. There is a landing behind it so don"t worry about crud falling into the tranny.

Thats exactly how I aligned my clutch up this weekend. Do you have the PN for the seal? I have to go down to the bearing place this week to find a replacement for my leaky old seal
