Closer inspection of my TO 20 block has unveiled the usual cracks between the cylinders (both upper and lower) for this model tractor. After reading nearly every post regarding "cracked block" I get the idea that I should: Have the head first magnafluxed by a machine shop to see how deep the cracks go. The best fix would be to get it furnaced brazed and align bored. "Pinning" also seemed to be an option, as well as nickel rod welded. Any idea of cost and effectiveness of these options. Pros and COns! I would like to take it to a machine shop early next week for diagnosis, and would like to have some idea of what to expect. Thanks, Mike

Go to your local machine shop and see about a furnace braze repair. It's what you get when you get a remanufactured engine. The block is cleaned and furnaced brazed which also stress relieves the block. It is then remachined and then ready for use. I have one that was repaired this way and it hasn't given me a lick of trouble and mine is a working machine on our ranch.

It's competetive with buying an uncracked block. They go for about $400-$600 when you can find them.
