TO-20 or 8N ?

I have a 1951 Ford 8N with the Sherman Transmission and my Dad has a TO-20. I have several questions that I really need some help with. What is the horsepower for both these tractors ? Which is the better tractor if they were equal in condition ? If Dad and I hook them up who will pull who around the yard if everything was equal ? How can I tell what year the TO- is ? Thanks for all your help.

Duane,
The Ferguson has a serial number plate on the dash behind the steering wheel. Get the number and we can go from there. As far as hp goes, the TO-20 has 23.9. I am not sure about the 8n but there are other boards on this site that you could look up. The Sherman trans is a plus for the 8n. Other than that,they are very equal tractors.

The 8n 1951 has 26.2 pto hp and the compression ratio is 6.7 to 1 which is better than older 8n at 6.1 to 1 (25.5 pto hp).
I bet on the 1951 8n, but I am sure the TO is better than a 1949 8n.
L engines like those in 8n are inclined to dirt accumulation on the head. I engines like TO keep running at top shape after many hours of operation. Look at Nebraska tractor test for the 8n for explanations.
