TO20 headlights

I have the same tractor. It has a generator and not an alternator. The voltage output is a function of engine speed. At idle they will be rather dim. When you drive it around at working RPM the lights get brighter.

Also, don't forget to lubricate the generator. There are two little oil covers you pull back. Every couple of months put a drop of light machine oil in each.

The lights on the TO-20 only have 1 wire going to them. This is the power line. The design used the frame as the ground to complete the circuit. The Hood to the fram is a bad electrical connection. To fix. Run a test wire from the screw on the back side of the lamp (oppsite of you power line) out the mounting screw and hold to different areas on the tractor. Start at the frame where the radiator mounts and work back tword the battery. When you find a good spot cut the wire to lenght and ground there.

I found a nice 1/4" bold near the radiator. I lossened the bolt wrapped my wires around the bolt threads and retightened.
