TO 30 Timing Chain

Can I get a new tinming chain for my TO 30, it sounds like its hitting the housing, still runs well so she has not jumped, just this clicking sound like there is a broken link.Before I tear into this I want to be sure there is a replacement chain available.
Thanks for any leads as to where to look.

Might be the governor breaking up (on front of cam gear). I'd not use it again until I'd taken timing cover off to look.

Well, after getting ready to drain the radiator and start digging into the timing gear case, I noticed that the generator belt was very loose, so I tightened it up, and started the engine , just to see if that had an effect. Remember, this noise just started, anyhow, after tightening the belt the noise was gone. I drove her about for a while (load & no-load, and never heard it again. I think I was getting some back-lash in the timing gears, and when the belt was tight, it held things together. Anyhow, I will keep an ear to this and if it returns I open it up.

Your Continental Z129 doesn't have a timing chain. However the nut on the cam that hold the timing gear on may have come loose so you better pull the cover and take a look.

Thanks Jerry, when you suggest to look, where do I start, is this "nut" under the valve cover or am I going for the timing gears area, that is under the water pump, on the front of the engine? The noise sounds like its coming from the front, nearer the bottom of the engine than on top, I have not yet ordered the maintainance maunal, which one do you reccomend??

You'll have to look under the timing cover, Herbert. I agree with Jeff(OH). Get the Ferguson Shop Manual AND the Parts Manual. You won't regret it. They ahs very good systems description in the shop manual that you won't find in the IT manuals.

I would recommend the shop service manual. DO not bother with the I&T manuals.
