I just purchased a Ferguson Tractor.The serial # reads SFG186841.The engine plate is stamped with # 7134 676774.The transmission casting has a # of 182 840 M2.It has a square style padded seat and head lamp mounts.The head lamps are mounted on a Wagner loader on the tractor.Full instrument gauges with hour gauge.My friend told me that it does not have a double clutch.Would the serial # on the transmission case tell me what clutching system it has.If it has a double clutch,could their be somethig wrong with it.

I believe your Ferguson is a 1958 model. The letters in front of the serial number indicate the type. S is for standard width. G is for Gasoline. F is for single clutch. Some of the links in this site have some great information on the serial numbers and specs for these tractors.
