Another dash question, my 35 has a single 3 position switch which feels like it should fail at amy moment. Its left off, center ign on, and right starter. I looked at the parts manual and if I read right there should be 2 switches, in the left recessed area 181141m91 starter (i'm guessing push button) and on the right 180681m91 (I'm guessing keyed selector switch) for ignition and lights. I'm not fanactic on origiality just want to replace the ignition switch before it fails and while I have it apart and will at least attempt to put something close back in. Am I reading the manual right? 2 switches? Looks like you can see where the 180683m1 switch plate index was.

You got it. Push button in the left hole, and 3 position iginition switch (off, run, run with lights, lights only. There is also a neutral safety switch with ties into the ignition circuit--this is the small bolt looking part which is located under battery directly on top of transmission--it is designed to force the operator to have the High/Low selector in the Neutral position (tractor will not jump) in order to start. Ferguson keys are a short 2 pronged looking key. Ebay and farm stores will have all parts needed: switch, button, and new safety switch. Put her back like she was-its a nice set up. Mark

I found the neutral safety switch with the wires cut off, figured thats what that was, we'll be putting that back. This weekend I tried starting my 8n in gear, done it hundreds of times in neutral, only takes once.

When the whole family was home and farming, we would have 3 or 4 Ferguson 35s and usually the 65 all running. Dad would always turn on the gas, pull the choke just once, and fire them up. He would always do this from the left side off the tractor. He never ran a fergy without the safety switch. We always had to let them warm up 15 minutes before putting into gear. Guess what his son does 30 years later?????Yup.
