Just went to Salina and bought me a TO 20, It runs great, 3PT works great, steering is tight, brakes are ok. However when I rolled it off the trailer, I tried to start it. The shifter will go to 1,2,3, and 4, but it will not go over to "S" or reverse. Its as if something is blocking it from moving over to that area. Would this happen if the battery was dead? Whats going on guys? THANKS

You need to pull up on the shifter to move it to those positions.

Thanks Don, I tried that and it worked beautifully. I went to the farm store and got me an overrunning clutch today so i can do the last 2 or 3 mowings for the year. I have a 62 Fordson Super Major Diesel, but its way too big to weave in and out of trees and fences, so I took some advice from guys on this forum and picked up my 51 TO 20 last night. She purrs like a kitten, no smoke whatsoever, and starts on the first 1-2 cranks. It could use a paint job, but no dents, no cracks. The guy I got it from said it had been overhauled about 2 years ago and converted to 12V. I can attest to it because it runs so good. Thanks again Don.
