TO-30 start switch

I went out to start my tractor and couldn"t get my tractor to turn over. It acted like the battery was dead, so I charged the battery and had the same results. It acts like the start switch has gone bad (I replaced the start switch in Summer 2005). Is there a good way to by-pass the switch to start the tractor? I know about the safety of using the gear shift lever to start the tractor but only want to crank the tractor up to bushhog for about 2 hours. Also, what is a good way to check the switch and what are some reasons that would cause the switch to go bad? Thanks, Mike

Could be a battery cable connection. Especially check the ground cable.

I doubt that yur start switch is bad, especially since you replaced it last year. It probably needs adjusting. Loosen the four bolts on the top of the cover and move it rearwards and see if that helps.

Mike, if memory of my TO-30 is correct, you can use an old screw driver and short the two studs on top of the "SAFETY SWITCH" for a temporary start. Be very careful that tractor in in neutral.
