Trying to help out my buddy who bought a TO 35.
He says when he bought it, it ran but skipped.
He took the head off and found problems-now has the head back and put on.He got it fired up then called me because it was "runnin too fast".
With the rod from the governor hooked up it idles at about 1600 rpm. I disconnected the governor rod and backed off on the idle screw, cranked her up and still she idles about 1000 rpm with the idle screw backed completely off and the throttle shaft pushed back hard-the idle screw is not touching the stop pad it's so far out.

With the gov rehooked...back to 1600 revs Need some help here guys!!

Well got it squared away. This was not a big problem, just a bunch of little uns.
Float level too high
Both adjustment screws waaaaa ay out of whack on the carb(when I set em by the advice on this forum they were as close as I could get)
Throttle plate loose on the shaft
Throttle linkage out of whack from back to front Ignition timeing a mite late.

Some times them little things just stack up on ya.

If revs are 1,000 with the throttle stop backed right off & the governor disconnected, it's definitely not a governor issue. Either carb problem or air manifold leak. Has the carb been got at - perhaps someone's put the butterfly back to front? Even severly worn throttle spindle would be unlikely to be that bad.

It's not the carb. Either the governor rod needs adjusting or the throttle rod is too short. You need to get a manual with the instructions for adjusting it or holler for John(UK). He can supply the instructions via email.

I have read where this can happen if the throttle shaft bushings are leaking air into the carb.

Well first in the AM I"m gone put it on the roll back, cart it to the shop and disasemble the carb.
I figure it"s as good a place as any to start diggin.
