I was looking at my 8n that I recently bought and noticed it has a TSX 38 on it. Looks the same except the choke plate has a small flapper in the bottom of it so even with the choke closed you can still get air through it I guess.
Anyway here is a site that provides a download of a PDF on more info than you probably care to read on Marvel Sheb carb theory and operation. NOTE: its a 4 meg download so be prepared to wait.

Not a serious problem - these carbs are so simple anyone could undersatnd / sort them out, but thought I'd look at the info out of interest - but no luck. Broadband should only take a few secs on 4mb - I waited minutes & then got 21 blank pages!
Is there another access to site mentioned in link?
