TEA2085 Valve springs

Bareco provided me with springs that do not have the same specs as my manual:

Freelength is 2.00" vs 1.787"
Fitted load is 60lbs vs 38 lbs.

Anyone know for sure if this will be a problem from a performance perspective?

Sparex do a spring to replace the original, part # S61906 (825186M1)(MF)

Can you confirm that the Sparex part has the same specs as original? Bareco tells me that these longer springs will work. They also said, of interest I think, that some TEA's, repeat TEA's were fitted with Continental engines and that this spring will fit all Fergusons without Continental engines. Perhaps they have it backwards.

No I can't confirm that the spec is as original. It would not be a TEA if it had a Continental engine, that is the idea of the third letter, to tell you just what it is. If it had the Continental it would just be a TE. I wonder where they get these ideas from? It is possible that you can have a TEA fitted with a Continental engine as a replacement but not from the factory.
I must admit I have never heard of anyone complain about these springs from Sparex and they are by far the biggest supplier of aftermarket parts for the Ferguson now. What BareCo said was a bit confusing don't you think, they should have said that this spring is for the Standard engine only and not started confusing the matter with TE's and TEA's. I feel sure that these springs must have been tried and tested before, if there had been any problems they would have withdrawn them. I agree with Gerard though, the specs for the springs are incorrect, perhaps that is the nearest they can get without having a special one made, which would raise the price considerably. It would appear that they are safe to use from the information that we have.

As an engine builder of all types over many years, I wouldn"t use them. Although cam lift on these vehicles is hardly "high lift" I"d still be concerned about coil binding & valve stem stretch / failure due to massive loading increase. Don"t forget this loading goes through the whole train down to the cam lobes / followers.

Gerard, I tend to agree. I'll follow through with Sparex. I'll pursue Bareco and try to find out why they are marketing parts for applications which they are not designed.
