Hello to the Group, I have been working on painting my To-30 is there a special paint (high temp) needed for the engine? And the same with the primer? I will go and pound out more dents in the sheet metal and check back later. My thuimb is still sore!!

Like John says, regular 'ol tractor paint on the engine, it is water jacketed and does not really get that hot. Same for the block, pan, and head. I painted mine several years back, used regular auto primer, and tractor paint from T.S.C., still looks fabulous! I went to great pains to clean and prep. my new manifold, and painted it (according to the instructions - of course) with a can of fairly expensive high temp. manifold paint. "Good to 600 degrees", or something like that. It looked great the first year. The exhaust side started to bubble the second year, rust the 3rd year... and looks like it was never painted now... Maybe I should have tried the cheaper (much cheaper) black BBQ paint instead.

Do an internet search for "POR 15". They make a lot of coatings for manifolds, etc.

No special High Temperature paint is needed on the engine and tractor, although you may wish to use some on the manifold.

I used POR15 manifold paint on a car engine exhaust manifold and it hasn't burned off, but it doesn't have a lot of run time on it yet. It likely will burn, regular and bbq paint will definately burn. I would like to try the Jet Hot coating, but it's bound to be expensive. Here's a link.
