TO 30 HYDRAULIC LIFT ROCKER

WAS OUT BUSHHOGGING WHEN MY LIFT ROCKER TOTALLY DISINTEGRATED.MY TOP LINK LIFT PIN PULLED TOTALLY THROUGH THE EYES.I GUESS THE CAST IRON WAS CRACKED
ANYHOW I'M LOOKING FOR A NEW ROCKER AND WAS WONDERING IF THE ROCKER FOR A "N" TRACTOR IS ADAPTABLE TO MY TO 30? OR WHERE I CAN FIND ONE TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL.THANKS.

The Top Link Rocker from a Ford 9N will fit a TO30. Just remember to take out the play when you fit it, with the implement raised you should just be able to turn the spring, don't force it to adjust it. Sparex do a Rocker part number
S61643 or Ford NCA535A, you will need to find a bush for it to pivot on. The usual cause of the Rocker breaking is someone has been towing from it or someone has been driving fast with a heavy implement mounted which has been bouncing and overloaded it. There are two positions on this Rocker, use the bottom one normally, the top one is for very light draft implements to make it more sensitive,if you use it instead of the bottom one you may overload it.

Thanks John,as always you prove to be the fount of knowledge on Ferguson tractors. You mentioned the Sparex part # s61643'would this be a replacement of the original,and is it a new or used part.I'm concerned about a steel replacement versus a cast iron replacement as cast iron might crack on me again.Also you mention that I may have overloaded the tractor.My bushhog is a landpride and weighs about 570 lbs.I was bushhogging in 2nd gear there were some bumps as I turned across some rows,but mostly fairly level ground and the tractor never got hung up once or bogged down.In your opinion do you think my bushhog is too heavy for my rocker or do these rockers occaisionally give way,mine is over 54 yrs old and was definitely cracked,but not at the holes that held the toplink pin.I'm trying to be cicumspect in not having to repeat this type of breakdown.Your input is much appreciated.Thanks.

The Rocker S61643 is a new part and is perfectly capable of doing the work intended. Just what it is made of I don't know as I don't have one here but I suspect it may be cast, but they are tested to ensure they are capable of doing the job. Normally these parts give no trouble at all as long as the tractor is used sensibly as it should be and I don't think you have any need to worry about it. We do get some silly people towing from the top link connection and that will damage the Rocker as well as being highly dangerous. In work there isn't much chance of the Rocker being damaged it is when you travel along a road or dirt track and the tractor hits a hole, the mower will bounce and it is thrown into the air and then comes down with a crash and any load will be taken on the top link and its connection. When I said about overloading the tractor I was not meaning you personally I was meaning that the tractor at sometime had possibly been overloaded and any damage was caused at that time and as you say it was cracked then it looks as though I could be right.Your Hog isn't too heavy at all, it's too heavy when the tractor won't lift it.
