TE20 valve guides

After many distractions keeping me from finishing a major overhaul of my "47 TE20 - like stopping the carb flooding on my V8 waterpump, trying to get a 1950 piston pump working, etc etc, - I finally put the head on the bench to work on it. Plan was to change the valve guides - good job I measured them before knocking them out. They"re 5/8" OD, but the ones I"d bought from another site, together with all the other parts (pity this site won"t sell outside USA) are a strange .55" OD. Are those Standard engine size, as opposed to Continental? Anyway, good news is original guides show no signs of wear, so they"ll go again. Not bad for a tractor that worked practically every day for 30 years, then another 20 on less frequent, but hard (ie flat out) work! It finally gave up when the governor flew apart about 7 yrs ago, so I laid it up for a full engine overhaul. It was still on original pistons & liners at that stage. Had to make camshaft bearings and bore the block to suit - also bored the liners to take 1/16th O/S pistons I"d bought years ago when these tractors were old but not yet appreciated & spares were practically non-existent. If I recall correctly, those pistons were for a Plymouth car. Weren"t many engines that used that crazy size piston pin. But the condition of those guides amazes me.
