Im just wondering how much gear oil you are supposed to use

It isn't gear oil as such, that would be too thick, it is called GL1 90W or you can use 15W-30 Multi-grade which is better if you are in a cold winter climate as it wont get as thick. You need 5 imp gallons or 24 US quarts. Make sure it is drained from all THREE drain plugs and then fill it through the filler plug next to the gear lever. Just pour the full amount in and it will level out after about half and hour. Don't put any more than those amounts in it may leak.

You don't use gear oil. You use a SAE 90W (above 50F and 80W below 50F) GL1 oil(or equivalent) that lubes the rear axle, the transmission and is the hydraulic fluid for the three point hitch. The capacity is six gallons and when you drain the oil, you remove the drain plugs from all three components. When you fill, it all goes through the hole in the top of the tranny.
