I am having a problem identifying my ferguson tractor. The serial number is to-73930 so that makes it a to-30 but the engine is a z120. If I have been reading correctly the engine sould be a z129 has anybody heard of Ferguson putting z120 on a to-30

And also, if the Z120 engine was rebuilt, it could possibly have an overbore kit in it and it may in reality be 129 size wise. I have one of the mystery Z120 engines with the zero ground off and a nine stamped in it"s place....seems to be a mystery to all on the board as to what company did this when they rebuilt them. Nothing unusual in that, someone has changed the engine for one out of a TO20 thats all. It wouldn't come from the factory like that because they weren't using the Z120 at that time so there hasn't been a mistake. It is the same tractor as a TO20 so there is no problem to fitting a a Z120 engine.

The tractor does have a internal oil filter and Z120A600 is on the left side of the engine.

That number is a casting number and both the -20 and -30 have the same number I believe. But the fact that it does not have an external oil filter on the right side says that it's a Z120 engine. Guess you have a hybrid.

How do you know that your engine is a Z120? Do you have a data plate on the left side of the block about in the middle just below the split line between the head and the block that says it's a Z120? Do you have an internal oil filter or external oil filter that is located on the right side of the engine? If the oil filter is external on the right side, then the engine is a Z129.
