Can someone tell me what oil to use in the gearbox/diff of my 1950's TEA 28. Someone said I could use hydraulic oil, is this o/k as my old oil is white, (water got in somehow) maybe sweating in the cooler climate here.

My clutch now hangs in and grabs now in the changing climate here, as last year we moved from coast to mountains, and a cooler place.

Can I spray penetrating oil into the clutch bellhousing to release the spline that the clutch travels down?

There isn't a TEA28 but all the TE's and TO's use the same oil in the gearbox and hydraulics. The oil you use is not hydraulic oil, that would not be heavy enough for lubricating the gearbox or the rear axle and the Hydraulic system was not designed to run in that. The oil should be GL1 90W which is about as thick as engine oil, but if you are having problems with the oil getting thick use Multi-grade 15W-30 that will not go as thick when cold. The water is getting in the oil possibly through the bottom of the gear lever or through the Control Spring behind the seat, fit a rubber boot to the bottom of the gear lever, and replace the felt washer under the Control Spring to stop water getting in here.
Spraying penetrating oil into the clutch housing could allow it to get on the clutch plate, by all means try it and if it does get on the plate you will have to split it like you really should do now.

I sent all that to you Chris. I will send it again...If you are removing the Pump you don't take off the Top Cover, its all dome at the bottom.

If it will stay up for 10mins it is ok, leaving it lifted like that may cause the Control Valve to stick. It was never designed to be left in the raised position, just simple up and down.
