I just bought a TE20, It has the UK made 4cyl petrol engine. I have cleaned it up and removed the rust and replaced some wiring. When I got it home the clutch was seized on and the hydraulics didn't work. I got the clutch to function and with new oil the hydraulic arms lift but take a long time to lower, by long I mean 4 days with about 50lbs on each arm. Any suggestion would be greatfully received. Should I drain the hyd oil and refill with diesel then run it to flush??

What oil did you put in the hydraulics, it should be GL1 90W or 15W-30 Multi-grade. If you have put thick gear oil in it that is your problem, the oil should be as thick as engine oil. If you have filled it with the correct oil can you lift the lower links easily by hand, if not the cross-shaft may have seized. If you have to drain it leave it draining overnight from all 3 drain plugs, then refill it with the correct grade.

It"s 20/50 engine oil in the trans. The previous owner could not remember if he used 15/30 or 20/50 so I used what I had on hand. Could you expand on what you meant by a part being seized, I am still waiting for my manual to arrive by post.

I mentioned the cross-shaft, that is the heavy shaft that turns to lift the implement. It runs across the tractor under the seat inside the Lift Cover. If is it partially seized, if you try to lift the lower links by hand they will not drop down again and will remain partially lifted. This can happen if the tractor has been lying for some time. Don't expect the Service Manual to be the answer to all your prayers, unless you have a technical working knowledge of the tractor it can seem that sometimes it is written in a foreign language. While it will give a lot of information unless you are fully conversant with the tractor, some of what it says will not be easy to follow.
