Got a TO-20, figured out the shifting of the Howard and the Hup and now I still need to pull start it until I get the case split and the ring gear replaced. Got a new ign switch installed and noticed it has four positions. the first being "off" wher it is possible to remove the key. What are the other three positions good for?
thank you much!

On my MF-35 (with the four position switch) first is the ignition, second is the head lights and ign, third is the rear light and ign. and 4th is ign. and all lights....if I recall correctly. Fred OH

You would have to use an ohm meter to verify this (or the switch datasheet) but I would bet that if there are four positions (one being off) and three wire connectors, then one 'on' key position would connect the common connector to one of the other connectors. Another position would connect common to the other connector. The last position would connect common to both connectors. You could use this to control ingition and lights. Position 1 = lights only, position 2 = ignition only, position 3 = lights and ignition together.

Thanks for the reply! Should make life easier after I get the leaking fuel bowl gasket replaced.
Have a good one!
