I apologize for bringing this up again. So much has been written about it, i.e., GL-1, 15w30, etc.
I admit I am a little confused. The tractor place I went to sold me bulk 80/90 wt. gear oil. Is this stuff going to ruin my tractor?

Thank you, John.
I must admit I am puzzled as to why "they" sold me the wrong stuff. Perhaps I should let them know so no one else winds up with this problem.
(I should verify that I bought this oil long before there was all this discussion on the forum about this subject.)
I will follow your advise about how to proceed and thanks again.

No easy way Dennis, possibly the easiest way maybe to fill it up with correct oil and run it as normal for a few weeks, then drain it while it is hot after working all day, leave it to drain overnight, then refill the following day with fresh oil. To drain out the oil you have in now you need to get it as hot as you can so that as much as possible will run out, it will never drain properly if it isn't hot and the last bit of the oil draining carries out all the stuff that shouldn't be in there. If you don't do it that way you can wash it out with a sprayer jet filled with diesel or some form of solvent through the PTO and the round side covers then mop it all out with that kitchen towel on a roll or similar. Not easy either way.
