John: I heard brief mention on TV that Harry Ferguson was also into racing. Apparently he designed and built a "Ferguson" racing car which won some prestigious race somewhere in Europe or UK in the early 50's. Any knowledge about this?
John

When he left MHF he formed a company Harry Ferguson Research, maybe it was running before he left I can"t remember now. This was involved with making a 4wd system for passenger cars and then it was fitted to a racing car, the story of this is here:-http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/9828/
somewhere along the line he was also involved with the BMC Mini tractor, it looked exactly like the TE20 but smaller. The cars did not have the success he expected them to have and I suspect that this had something to do with the bouts of depression that he suffered from in later life and was possibly the ultimate cause of his death.

Never heard that one before, but who knows, it is possible. Interesting thought is that...

You could get the Jensen Interceptor with the FF (Ferguson Formula) four-wheel-drive option. Here's a brief overview:

HF also has many auto patents. He has patents of 4 wheel steering among others.

He also built and flew the first Irish Airplane, among other accomplishments.
