Is this a typical link on the axle of my '55 TO-35, and if so, anyone have an idea where I can find its mate?

You have a stabalizer bracket that was used with the three point hitch Dearborn/Ferguson sickle mowers. The socket where your stabalizer pin is now is where the mower kickback bar attaches to the tractor. There should be a hole up above the socket for your stabalizer pin to mount in. I have one of these brackets on the right side and a regular bracket on the left side of my TO-20 and they work just fine. I perfer to use two stabalizers so as to equal the side stress on the tractor and the implement. Any tractor parts dealer of salvage yard should be able to hook you up with the left side bracket.

tldnc, you are absolutely correct in your description, thanks for the info! Awesome. I have another bracket for the other side and now that I know they aren't supposed to match, I'll bolt it up.

These were often mounted, as yours, on one side only; if the bar installed to this was rigid enough, there was no significant advantage gained by mounting another.

It's a triangle with the flat side forwards. And it does have a ball link.

Could this be meant for a specific application, not a sway bar?

Is that bent, or does it have a ball joint? Never seen one with a ball joint before - in fact they wouldn"t work properly, as there"d be movement, which is what the sway bar is designed to prevent.
