TO-20 Oil Pan

Looking for a used oil pan. Changeing oil on mine and noticed screen and cover would not come out of a oblong hole ! Looks like oil pan hit something. put in new filter and seal, tightened up bottom plate and it still leaked. Tryed tightening up nut and something cracked and cover came lose and there went my 5 qts. of new oil and something is broken !?
When I look close at oil pan, the hole is oblong and dented up 1/2" +. So disapointed I said XXXXX X, quite and had a few beers !
Anyone have a used oil pan for sale, reasonably priced ?

I just went through this on my TO-20. Not one of Harry F.'s better ideas, IMHO. I ended up reworking my pan. It took some grinding and welding to remove and replace the re-inforcement ring in the bottom of the pan, A whole lot of pounding and straightening, Some more pounding and straightening, and about a week of evenings in the shop, but I gotter done. It looks like a new one on the outside and seals up perfectly with a stock gasket. I highly recommend just getting a replacement. wengers dot com sells used ones for $60 and brand new ones for $90. The standpipe that the filter fits onto is also what the plate retaining bolt screws into. It's nothing more than a piece of 1/4" black pipe. There is an unwelded seam the length of it. What you felt "break" was probably the seam splitting open due to the extreme force of the plate bolt being cranking tightly into it. A new one can be made fairly easily if you're handy with a tap and die. I can advise you on how to do that if need be. I made a new one for mine as the old one was badly belt when the pan got crunched.

Mr. Joe, Got the pan off. Looks like that inside ring is spot welded and 2 of the spots are broke. But the others are still holding ???
The snap turned out to be the stand pipe , in the upper thread. luckily I got it out with a vice grip. Don't know where to get a new one. Checked Sparex and they don't show one. The book says it's threaded 7/16" on one end and 9/16" on the other ??? 7-3/16" long. Didn't measuere anything yet. Getting dark here.

Mr.Joe, thanks, Do you know how that standpipe is connected at the top ?
Also, on the outside of the pan there are 2 tubes or rods, I don't know what these are but looks like I have to take them off to get the oil pan off.They are parallel to the long side of the pan and I don't know if there is something in them or just brases. Appreciate your input.
