I am restoring a 1949 model TO20 sn 2360. Is it true that it did not have the Ferguson decal on each side of the hood as did the later models?

I am the 2nd owner of a TO-20 (my Grandfather was the 1st owner) and it DOES have the side emblems in addition to the front emblem. It has never been modified in any way so I'm positive the emblems are original.

I have a TO-20 (TO-3733), that my father bought new in 1949. The hood does not have the side badges nor does it have holes for them.

Chief,
Some 20's had hood side badges and some didn't. If you look on the inside of your hood and find no indication that there never was a badge, it's a good guess that is how it came from the factory. I have a TO-20 with a smooth hood other than the front emblem. I actually like it better that way.I don't think that anyone has a sure answer as to why some were smooth. It's probably due to the fact of manufacturer shortage, so the factory shipped them smooth till the badges order came in.

I am the second owner of a TO-20. It has the original hood, and never had any emblems, nor are there any holes for same. The only emblem on it is on front.

I am pretty sure the hood is original, there are no holes for mounting a name plate. There is a small front ferguson emblem but nothing on either side. With sn of 2360 this may be the original plane jane. Question is should I try to find emblems or leave it as is? I'm not a purist but wouild like to keep it as original as possible. Thank's for your comments.

The TE-20's do not have the side emblems. All the TO-20's I have seen had or once had the side emblems. I have no info as to whether TO-20's without emblems existed or did not exist.

Is the hood on your TO-20 origional? Does it have the mounting holes for the emblems?

These were not really "decals" but were metal emblems saying "Ferguson" for the TO20. This shows on the tractor first off the line in the Ferguson demo movie and in all the later demo movies I have seen. However, I have been told by reliable sources that some 20s were delivered without the side emblems. Maybe a parts shortage just after WWII ??
