Tractor Just Died- Follow-Up

To Recap: I have a TO35 with a Standard Diesel. After running for 20 minutes, it just died, like out of fuel, except it had about 1/3 tank. The only way it re-started was when it was pulled. Then it ran fine and re-started as usual; (with a little help from ether, as usual.) Then it ran fine for another 20 minutes and the same thing happened again. I noticed that the cannister on the front filter that connects to the injector pump was, well, juicy. I traced it to a small pin-hole leak on the copper tube that runs from the back of the fuel tank to the top of the filter. Does this sound like a probable cause? From answers to my previous post, it was detemined I have a fuel delivery issue.

Well, the pinhole was indeed the problem. I fixed the hole and she fired right up after only bleeding the filters and bushhogged til my butt was numb. No more problems. As usual, the advice on this board is as good as it gets.

That copper line sounds like a return line. Did some water get in? We had an International do the same when we started using diesels and replaced filters. ect. only to find we had a bunch off dead bugs laying between the tank and first filter. Flys, bugs would crawl in the overhead tank nozzel and die. Cleaned them out of the tractor and always gave the filling nozzel a squirt in a can before filling the tank after that. Shine a light in the bottom of the tank and the hole where the filter comes in.

on a diesel the fuel lines have to be completely leak free. cannot have any air what so ever in the lines. replace lines, filter, bleed lines before starting
