TE-20 hydraulic lift pump questions

I was having problems with the hydraulics on my TE20 and decided to disassemble the lift pump unit. There was alot of sludge and build up. Now that I have it apart I have noticed some differences between my unit and the diagrams that I have. The relief valve is the ball valve type. The only problem is that when I removed the cotter pin and took out the spring, I noticed that there was no ball. Is the ball a common ball bearing size or is it special? The oscillstor shaft had separated from the control valve. I also noticed that I don't have outlet valve spring washers that look like the diagram but instead have these thick rubber inserts. The diagram that I have shows that with all of the other features that I have on the unit that I should have o rings seals but I don't.

Do I have some kind of factory mix and match or has somebody lost some parts in the past?

Never remove a Hydraulic Pump or any Hydraulic components until you know what is causing the problems you are having, it could be just down to adjustment. As it is now you have it on the bench and you can replace lots of parts and clean it up and do other things but you still don't know if you have found the problem. Always diagnose the fault first then you can do what needs to be done, you will find it cheaper to do it this way as you only replace what is necessary. The sludge is due to the oil not being changed regularly (every 12 months)The safety valve, you can't reset the pressure so throw it away and get a new one, never dismantle a safety valve. The valve must have had a ball in it originally or it would not hold pressure, it would just leak out as fast as the Pump could Pump it in. Oscillator shafts do come adrift occasionally, it just needs re-attaching thats all. There have been various modifications to the Hydraulic Pump and the differences you have are due to this, nothing else. One of the differences was they changed the sealing of the side chambers to the Pump Body from gaskets to "O" rings. You don't say what problems you were having that caused you to remove the Pump from the tractor so we cant guide you as to what you need to do. If you give us some more information about what it was doing or not doing then we can help, but it may be that the Pump will have to be refitted before we can diagnose the fault, it all depends on what it is.
