Check spark? Dampness from dew can shutdown a 6V system with dirty connections, cracked wiring, etc. Are you closing your fuel shut-off when your shutdown for the day? Upflow carbs are sensitive to the fuel level being too high in the fuel bowl, the fuel can't vaporize, engine acts like it isn't getting any gas, when the problem is just the opposite!
It's caused by fuel leaking by the needle valve after sitting a while, thanks to the weight of the gas in your gravity flow fuel tank - which is why the fuel shut-off is there in the first place. Try this - charge your battery back up, close your fuel shut-off, pull the drain plug in the carb and drain it down. Re-install plug, open fuel shut-off, give your carb ~30 seconds to re-fill, then crank-er-up.
If she starts - that's it. Also, don't be suprised if you discover the fuel shut-off doesn't shut-off - they go bad or get gunked-up and leak thru. The hissing sounds like maybe leaky valve(s). Checked compression lately?
Not necessarily a showstopper unless it is seriously hurting compression. Could be timing too, like the other guys say, might be good to check that once you get her running again. Actually pretty easy with a timing light. Hope this helps!
