I've located a little 30 tucked in the back of a barn...Has been there for 25 years..... ..and yes, it is nice. It does something odd, though probably more interesting than valuable, it has a handle on the left brake that curves up by the seat. Nothing on the right side. There never was a loader on her. Any comments? I won't mention the barn full of fergy implements.
Thanks, any comments welcome. Mark0

The handle is, as you observe, an after market contraption to operate the left brake. Sometimes these are also home-made. Most tractors (at least with a foot clutch) had both the left and right brakes on the right foot. This is particularly nice when trying to brake for turning left when starting out and using the clutch also. Another example is when starting when left wheel has little or no traction. The solution was the left hand brake lever. Also, I've seen aftermarket conversions to put the left brake on the right side that went under the tractor. Jim

The TO-20 and the TO-30 have a handle on the acess cover on the left side of the transmission case that engages the PTO and the hydraulic pump when you push it rearward. On the right side is the dip stick for the trans/hydraulic oil

Thanks, but its not those handles.
This just an extension of the left brake pedal---it is arch shaped then comes to a straight handle all the way above the level of the seat pan.
I know it is for operating the left brake--I was just curious as to what its benefits are and if there may have been one on the right pedal as well. Thanks for your reply. Mark

It is as you and Jim say for operating the independent brake on the left side, really there was no need to fit one because you can PULL the pedal UP and it applies the brake, but everyone has a choice as to what they want.
