TO-20 Rusty gas tank/sediment bowl issue

I have two questions--my gas tank is rusty on my 1950 TO-20. Upon removing the sediment bowl and fuel valve, I see the siphon has had the screen cut away from around it. It also appears to have only a single siphon w/a shorter/shallow sed. bowl. My Ferg. manual shows the single siphon fuel valve to have a longer/deep sed. bowl and the dual siphon valve to have a shallower bowl. I can't seem to understand how "reserve" would work on a single siphon system--pics in manual don't show it,yet turn handle on valve explains how to access "reserve" by opening fully as opposed to two turns. And is "Kreem" the best fix for rusty tank inside? I have done it many times on motorcycles. Thanks DOUG

Clean inside of tank and remove particles by washing it out. Dry and coat the inside with a fuel tank liner... There are many available. I have not heard of Kreem. But if it is a fuel tank liner then I do not know of a reason why it would not work. I have heardf of a product called POR-15.

Some people have put a chain into the gas tank then strapped it to a rear wheel to tumble the chain in the tank to clean the rust out. I have never done this my self. Thus, your mileage may vary.

The Ford reserve has a screen around the siphon and one tube sticking up into the tank which is the gas supply, when sucking air the valve is turned to the reserve position and opens a lower hole in the tube and draws from the bottom of the tank. Your's might have been replaced ot one time. LOL
