I just purchased a to 20 in decent shape.I am switching things over from my 8n and noticed that it is quite a bit harder to turn the steering wheel on the Fergy than it was on the ford. Both tractors are well greased and both have oil in the steering gearbox. Both tractors have the backlash adjusted but for some reason the fergy is harder to steer. Next thing to try is to remove the linkage and see if maybe one wheel isnt gettng the grease in the right spot. and is binding somewhere.Any other suggestions.

A couple of items to check while you are "tinkerin'" Drop both spidles and check condition of thrust bearings--most of my new toys have one or both dried out or totally shot. Also, the toe-in of front tires..... .not real common, but if anyone changed or messed with steering alignment//the alignment may be out of wack. I just take a tape measure and reach under engine and hook center tread and note measurement to opposite center tread,,,,, the do same thing to front portion of wheels.should be within 1/4" of equal. Lastly, any play in radius rods or front axel pivot could compound each other and affect steering. My money is on one or both thrust bearings shot. Mark
