Several of us have left posts on this very subject on many occasions.All your wire connections need to be clean and shiny. 6V systems just don't work with corrosion. Check the ground (positive) to frame on the back of the dash - gotta be clean!. Check the regulator ground lug - it is one of the regulator mounting bolts. It needs to be clean or the regulator won't ground to the tractor frame very well, and won't allow the genny to put out as it should. Might want to polarize the generator one more time after cleaning wire connections to make sure the polarization takes. The regulator controls generator output by varying the resistance to ground of the "F" field terminal on the generator. No ground = no output. Try this (after cleaning your wire connections and re-polarizing) - run a jumper wire from a good ground, like the dash connection, to the "F" terminal on the genny, while your engine is running at working speed. Look at your AMP gauge when you do that. The AMP gauge should come to life and ramp-up to ~10-12 AMPS, which is ~full output from the generator. If that works, your generator works, but your regulator isn't working right. If the AMP gauge don't move, either the gauge is bad, or the generator is bad. Volt meter will help verify that. When you do the jumper test, you should get ~6.8 - 7.2 volts across the battery terminals. Shut off the engine, the volts will drop. If you get no voltage change, generator ain't working. Even a cheapo volt meter from Wallmart should work good enough to check that. Run those tests and get back to us. George
