There are two Allen headed set screws on the cover under the seat of my TO-30. My service manual shows a pressure gauge connected to one of them to test the hydraulic pressure while under a load. Can they be used for anything like control valves or are they just there for servicing the hydraulics?

You can use them for powering a loader if you wish, apart from testing pressure that is why they are there, early tractors only had one on the Pump then they fitted another, then they fitted the two on the top cover. If you do use them for powering a spool valve for a loader don't return the oil through the oil filler alongside the gear lever or it will empty the hydraulics and it will starve the Pump and it takes a while to level out again as you know from when you change the oil and a Pump moves the oil a lot faster, so return any oil through one of the round side covers, either drill it and fit a union for the return pipe or make it return through the top setscrew hole, leave out the setscrew and make a "strap" that fits across 3 holes the two outer ones hold the strap to the side cover and the centre one should be fitted with the return line union that will pass through the setscrew hole about 1-1/2" inside so there is no chance of any oil leaking out. This is what they did on a few machines over here, works well looks ok but it takes more effort to do.

Doug, you should have a plug, might be a set scew, maybe a square plug, on the bottom right side of the pump housing, under the tractor, that will work sufficiently to power a simple loader. It is ~ 3/8" port, maybe. I think there is a similar plug on the top housing under the seat also. Those ports were not originally designed for that purpose, but a lot of guys use them for simple external hydro. It works off your existing lift control, adding control valves really won't work worth a darn. Our Fergy belly pumps were never intended to run external hydro. so it makes a fairly lame, slow output for loader needs. There are quite a few power up, gravity down loaders with catch dump buckets hooked-up to Fergy's and N's that are powered thru those ports. Not particulary fast, but they work, but you lose the use of the rear hitch.
If you are looking for anything more substantial than that, I recommend you either add-on a front mount or belt driven hydro. pump, or hook-up a PTO driven pump. Then you will have enough hyro. power for about anything you can think-of.

Check past replies, as you can add auxilary hydraulics there, but you may need to add a return line. Also you need to keep the drawbar ridgid as this is the port to raise the 3PTH.

If they are for testing pressure with no flow they are probably too small for use to power anything.
