TO-20 rear axle seals

Can you suggest a part number for a TO-20 rear axle seal,and can I get them from Yesterdays Tractor Co. You have told me to get the sure seal from Sparex. The part that gives me problems is in the I&T Shop Service manuual on page 25, item #25. As you informed me earlier I will emery the shaft smooth to insure a tight seal. Also should I order a different parts manual for more information. Thanks for the help. Gary. More questions to follow about a shifting problem.

Thanks gshadel for expanding on the axle seal installation.Went to your site,Excellent excellent job on complete insructions to properly do that task.I'm right in the middle of replacing mine right now.Got sure seals and brake linings from Sparex.Thanks again,I enjoy this site!

The original seal that was fitted to your tractor was MF part 890640M1 or Sparex part S41416. The "Sure Seals" are Sparex part S61512
I don"t have an I&T Service Manual so I am not sure what is troubling you. It isn"t really a parts manual that you need it is a good Service Manual although a parts manual is always useful to have. Don"t expect the Service Manual to answer everything as they assume that you have a good knowledge of the tractor to start with.

Jawss, You want a reprinted Ferguson manual. That I&T manual has only a fraction of detail as the Ferguson manual. You can get a Fergy manual from several sources, should be able to get one from the "manual" link at the top of this page.
You can replace that original seal if you like. You need to drill out the shrink fit metal collar, # 20 in your diagram (yes I have a I&T also). Then you have to press off the hub & bearings to get at the seal. Then press it back together and install a new heat shrink collar.

The sure seal just seats into the backside of the hub. No pressing, drilling, etc. required. It works well, has been around for a long time. I got sure seals off Ebay a year or so back.
This site does not offer sure seals specifically for the TO-20. They do sell sure seals for the 9N. I'm not positive, but my guess is the sure seals are the same on the TO-20 & 9N.
I'm sure other places do sell the sure seal. Try your local Ford dealer, or any other dealer that sells Tisco parts. I'll bet they have, or can get sure seals for you.

I just tore my TO-20 axles off over the Holidays and installed sure seals. Got a web site with pics.
