Washers under head nuts?

Howdy, folks. I'm putting the head back on my TO-30 and when I pulled out the bag I had put the head nuts in during teardown I was surpised there weren't any washers in there. Now, were there originally no washers used between the head and the head nuts or did I just misplace them? I checked the service manual, but it doesn't say either way and it doesn't have a diagram of the head, studs, and nuts.

Thanks!

Darren,
I'm just glad I could help. If you need any pictures out of the parts book I would be more than happy to scan them and email them to you. This goes to everyone else also, I know John(UK) has helped me with pictures before and now I would like to be able to return the favor.

Hi Darren, I checked my parts book and on pages 48/49 it shows hex nut and flat washer. Hope this helps.
