Hi All,
I just got a 1958 Ferguson TO-35 with power steering, and I having some problemswith it. It is pushing power steering fluid out of the breather vent on the top of the steering box. any ideas on why it is doing this and how to fix it. also I am not sure if the power steering is even working, should it turn as easy as a truck with power steering, it has a loader on it and steers hard. please let me know if you can help with any info or suggestions.

Thanks, Mel

I'm not positive, but I think the powersteering fluid is different from the gear oil in the steering box----I could be that the rings and/or seal are bad in the piston-and allowing p/s fluid to pass into gear box....Mark

Yes it should steer like your truck with full power on the steering. There is very little in that steering box, the probable cause is the Power Steering Valve assy. which is at the bottom of the Steering Column. Fortunately Sparex supply these under part number S42753, they also supply a small kit of parts for that box which could prove useful when you do the repair, this is S67109. I have the setting up details for this steering box, if you need it, just email me at:- fergusontractors@tiscali.co.uk
and tell me again what you need, Sparex are doing a few other wearing parts out of this box that you may be interested in, I can send that list too. You can Order Sparex parts from your local tractor dealer or from this site.
