I've seen several restored fergys , but can't remember how the wiring is routed to the back end of the tractor from the dash. I have a few wiring brackets at the top of the rear end but wonder how to expose across shiftor area as not to catch them while climbing on etc. I also have a aux lite on the back with the toggle switch built into it. does anyone else have a similar one????? thanks for any replies!!!

Ihad the same problem with the ground to the rear red light (55 TO 35) as close as I could get to the light w/o runnin a ground wire was the fender clamp on the left rear axel. A ground wire ran there worked.

Hey guys,
I am in the process of rewiring a TEA20 which has a similar light arrangment. However, the back work light with the toggle switch and the rear red light do not ground properly when bolted into the fender. I don't understand why they're not grounded but they're not. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If I touch the mounting bolt of the light to the transmission housing it seems to work fine but when it's bolted to the fender it doesn't. Scraped off paint to ensure bare metal but no light. Is it necessary to run a ground wire to the transmission housing.
Ron

I had this problem. I unbolted my fender from the axle trumpet and sanded down to bare metal where the two meet, applied some dialectic grease to prevent corrosion and bolted the fender back up. There was so much old dirt and rust between the fender and axle that it wasn't providing a good ground. Worked fine after.

What we used to do with that problem was to thread the cable through a piece of steel or copper fuel line first then pass this through the hole in the top right corner of the Transmission/centre axle housing joint just forward of the seat, then clip that into position. That will protect the cable from damage and it looks neat too.

Willy, on the TO-30s that I have seen or owned there are usually two clips bolted to the tranny and hydraulic housing that the wire goes through. One of these is usually where the tranny meets the steering box and the other is behind the lift quadrant. Also, there is a hole where the lips of the tranny and hydraulic housing meet that the wire goes through. All this is on the right side, under the drivers right hand. Hope that helps. As for the light with switch, they are not uncommon. I see them often on old Fords. I think the reason you don't see more is they rust where the switch joins the light housing. The ideal setup, as I see it, is a red light on the left at back with no switch, and a worklight on the right fender with a switch. That way you can drive on the highway with your red light on and leave the other light off and click it on when you want to hook up an implement, etc.

Willy, I covered this subject in great detail in issue #9 of FENA newsletter in 1/2003. Write to John Iwen at 1811 Parkway Drive in Bettendorf, IA 52722 and include $3 and he will send you a copy.
