I have a 53' TO30 in need of the fuel tank access door on the hood. I have been unsuccesful locating a new or used one. Any help is appreciated.

This tractor has a red frame, and yellow sheet metal. The hood has a blue stripe down the sides that run with the ferg emblems. The lower part of the grill is also blue. I have scratched the red and yellow paint and cannot find any signs of grey. Could this be a county or township machine ordered from the factory with those colors. Or is it just a yellow paint job?

I have a TO-30 that has yellow paint on the bottom (some red and God knows what on top of it, but definitely yellow on the bottom), and it has a hood that has been cut all the way around and two holes professionally cut for fuel and coolant. The top of the hood can be lifted up and off by removing two spring catches on each side at the front and by relieving the catch under the dash per normal hood operation. You normally would only need to remove the top of the hood to get to the battery, etc., as I said the fuel and radiator are accessed through the two holes cut in the top. The tractor came to me with the adaptor on the front pulley for a loader pump "stinger" so I am certain it had a loader on it. I feel it was bought by a municipality or school, etc., for snow removed, etc., but the seller didn't know. I have a Wagner loader on it and it works just fine for that. I feel whoever bought this tractor originally, ordered it yellow and with a loader, and perhaps the dealer cut the hood, but that's just my guess.

The hood on the Ferguson TO-30 does not have a fuel door. The hood unlatches and pivots forward to provide access to the fuel tank cap. If you have a hood with a fuel access door cut out, it came from another tractor.

What Ferguson"s had top fuel doors? The hood fits the side panels and the dash. This is obviously a ferguson hood. Door opens from the left side versus the rear like a ford, and is 1/3 the size. This tractor has a Davis loader mounted on it, the only way to fuel it without removing the hood, is to use the top door. If I knew what model this hood was off of maybe I could find a door. Thanks, Mark

Mark,

The only Ferguson tractor (US-produced) that had a fuel access door in the hood was the TO-35.

My guess is that someone installed the access door in your tractor because of the loader. A friend of mine had a TO-30 where someone had done just that.
